The revival of today's evangelical
movement can be traced to the late 60's. However the
first time it
burst into the national consciousness was during
the election of Jimmy Carter for president. Jimmy Carter
ran as
a “Born Again Christian”. He was a Democrat.
Abortion or gay rights were not important issues
in his campaign and apparently not among the voters
who elected him. We will visit Jimmy Carter's home
town . In Plains' churches and in a dialogue with
the town's inhabitants, I will try to gauge the town's
mood and feelings about religion and politics on
the eve of another election, more than 30 years later.
A view of the entire journey.
